Corporate Social Responsibility

What is CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and why should I care?

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a self-regulating business model that helps us be socially accountable to ourselves, our stakeholders, and the public. By practicing CSR, we are conscious of the impact we have on all aspects of society, including environment, people, procurement and the communities around us.

Who are our stake holders?

CSR ensures that we are sensitive to the needs and wants of all our stakeholders in our business operations, not just the shareholders.  Stakeholders of Millwood are all those who are influenced by, or can influence, our company’s decisions and actions, for example; shareholders, directors, other employees, customers, suppliers, the government, lenders of funds, community organisations, especially those in our local neighbourhood or the neighbourhoods we work within.

What is our commitment to corporate Social Responsibility?

Our environment

We are committed to reducing our direct impact on the environment by actively managing our waste, emissions, and consumption of natural resources both within our offices and as part of our site operations.

Our people

We aim to create a workplace that encourages diversity and equal opportunities for all. We actively encourage professional development through training and apprenticeship programmes and actively support and promote employee health and wellbeing.

Procurement

We seek out the most environmentally advantageous procurement route for the life of a project.  We check our supply chain against important criteria like financial stability, ability, equality and diversity and environmental compliance and that they carry the similar company ethos and core values as our own.

Community

We actively play a positive and influential role in our local clubs and communities. We constantly build a culture that promotes employee volunteering, mentoring, and fundraising. We actively support local businesses and the communities in which we operate.

Staff testimonial

“One of the greatest benefits of promoting social responsibility in our workplace is the positive environment that is created for my colleagues and myself.  It lets us feel that we are working for a company that has a true conscience and responsibility to us, our Client, the environment, our local communities and of course the planet as part of the bigger picture.  That is important to me.”
