Maintenance of hose reels to BS5306: Part1:1976 includes visual checks for leaks and obvious damage and should be carried out regularly. Once a year the hose should be completely run out and subjected to operational water pressure to ensure that the hose is in good condition and that all the couplings are water tight.

The hose itself needs to be either pressure tested or replaced every five years this thorough service ensures, that the hose reel will function properly as and when it may be needed.
